Any recent convert to snorkling is a natural candidate for this book- and their name is Legion. Practically anyone who has taken a winter holiday in the Caribbean area, the Bahamas, the Florida Keys, the southern California waters will have succumbed to the fascination of some aspect of diving in self-contained equipment and the opening up of the underwater world. This is a how-to-do-it book on skin-diving, spear-fishing, aqua-lunging, underwater photography, and the magic of what you see and where you see it. There is down to earth discussion of the techniques, the training, the equipment- pros and cons of various types (and an appendix listing sources). There are tips on methods, life saving techniques, warnings of the dangers- most of them due to carelessness- and descriptions of the few potentially dangerous fish. There's a brief summary chronology of under see assaults through the ages, bringing it up to post World War II developments, and the contribution the ""frogmen"" make. There are professional as well as hobby aspects of the sport.
