Good, popular black and white reading which never pauses, no, not for a minute More in line with the Frank Slaughter modern medicine novels, if somewhat less glamorized on the romantic end. But nonetheless a hearty handout of hospital and extra hospital affairs in this story of a doctor who has retired and then returned to his Pacific Northwest small town to rebuild his former hospital along the lines of socialized, cooperative medicine. With him in this is Dennis Dryden, his young friend; Grace, his head nurse who had always loved him, and others. There is the fight against f splitters, abortionists, the crooked clique of the A M A; there is the slow growing romance of the doctor, and the tragic and to romance of one young couple and the start of a new romance, and so on. Fast paced tale.
