THE END IN AFRICA by Alan Moorehead

THE END IN AFRICA

By

Publisher: Harper

Moorehead (author of Don't Blame the Generals) does not attempt to duplicate the first hand reportage of the other correspondents' stories of North Africa, but carries on his own story, from his leaving Africa, via Suez, South Africa, Canada, New York, and back to England, where he reports an England tired and hungry, but with a slight lift of spirit, preceding the African invasion. Then to Algiers, where he arrived about the time of the Darlan assassination, and reports four months' campaigns from within ranging distance -- but with more emphasis on the country and natives, the weather, etc. Both Americans and British armies are under observation by a seasoned African reporter who does not hesitate to criticize or praise. Not much new but live writing.
