What a disappointment! Instead of the interpretative and analytical approach to the ""dark continent"" that I know is needed, here is simply a superficial travelogue, as an English journalist-artist covers (largely by air) some 20,000 miles for two London publications. Mr. Reeve sketches as he goes and writes of what he saw, whom he saw. Starting from Cairo, he journeys through udan, Uganda, Kenya, Zanziar, Tanganyika, Portuguese East Africa, and South Africa, completing his trip in Cape Town. To describes the habits and customs of the natives and of the the of Western culture into African traditions. The narrative is strictly personal, and one feels that he spreads himself so thin, that his report is inevitably superficial.
