SLIMMING THE FRENCH WAY

A former heavyweight, who has spent many years dieting himself and others- his Art de Maigrir of which this is a translation has won him a numerically sizeable European audience- writes about obesity in general, and his own diet in particular. The causes of overweight (mainly overeating and lack of exercise) and its dangers as well as aesthetic liabilities; the various foods, their properties and values; and some other therapies (belts, massage, baths) precede his own diet which he recommends in two stages of eight weeks each with an interim of three months. The diet, day by day, is included but leaves something to the imagination (preparation) and indulgence (quantity) of the serious slimmer, and seems a sensible one. . . . An insatiable market here.
