This has double appeal,- as a record of an historical tour, in text and photographs of the Lewis and Clark Trail, and as a compilation of source material taken from the diaries and letters, and brought vividly to life with the photographs aforementioned. The Salisburys have used the techniques of their earlier Here Rolled the Covered Wagons, by including specific directions for reaching points on the trail and including 9 maps of the Lewis and Clark route, with modern highways and today's names indicated, 40 drawings by Carter Lucas and Mr. Salisbury's fine photographs combine to make this a handsome book. The story itself, though many times told, is still one of the most dramatic in America's pioneer record.
