FAITH: ITS LIFE AND GROWTH

This is not, as the title might imply, a theological dissertation on the meaning and genesis of faith; it is rather a treatment of faith in relation to its effect on the spiritual life, the purpose of which is to help the reader perceive more clearly the spiritual universe which is opened up, by faith, to the believer. The book is, therefore, intended for ""spiritual reading"" rather than for intellectual stimulation. Even for that market--one, unfortunately, notorious for its lack of resistance to mediocrity--it is difficult to believe that Father Besnard's work will meet with much success. The approach used is old fashioned, the material lacks originality, and the translation reflects faithfully the failings of the original French text.
