A few years ago print collecting had a tremendous vogue and well-to-do collectors spent a great deal of money. Today, while there seem to be fewer collectors, more people are finding this a democratic medium, and the position of the American print makers is a distinguished one. Frequent exhibitions, an increasing number of institutes of the graphic arts, bear witness to the importance of such volumes as this. Here we find- in alphabetical arrangement for greater facility in reference- print makers of yesterday and today, including such universally familiar names as Bellows, Hassam, Davies, Sloan, Hopper, Rockwell Kent, Marin, Peggy Bacon, Benton, Arms, Riggs, Charlot and others. Beautiful reproduction and a fine piece of book making. The introductory text gives a concise analysis of the processes; etching, dry point, line engraving, lithography, etc.
