THE SUNDAY WHIRLIGIG by Alberta Eiseman

THE SUNDAY WHIRLIGIG

By

Pub Date: Sept. 9th, 1977
Publisher: Atheneum

An Early American trifle in which Benjy makes himself a whirligig with the help of itinerant woodcarver Old William. As the device is moved by the wind without human help, it turns out to be the perfect toy for Sunday, when no one is allowed to be active. That's all--just another of those very tame glimpses of past times that don't pretend to much of a story. But this glimpse is neither vivid nor telling, and the appended five pages on how to make a whirligig are beside the point.
