THE POND BOOK by Albro Gaul

THE POND BOOK

By

Publisher: Coward-McCann

Albro Gaul, who wrote The Wonderful World of Insects an adult book published by Rinehart in 1952 (p. 732), is a patient, affectionate naturalist, fascinated by the habits of small creatures around a small country pond. He describes the seasonal changes in the pond itself and as the ice melts, as the days become hot, and as the frost thickens, there is also much basic information about the insects, reptiles, birds and animals whose lives are oriented towards the pond. The author's photographs, though disappointingly fuzzy at times, have the pleasing quietude of the text. Satisfying.
