Ken Langdon was lame from paralysis and had to use crutches, yet he was a crack batter and learned to ride well. He lived on the South Shore of Long Island near the Rockaway Hunt Club, adored the polo there and was given a horse to ride and care for. One summer his family went to the White Mountains. There on a pack trip Ken's courage saved Jake, the guide, in a horrifying storm. The author knows whereof he speaks for he also has a bad leg and has learned to grin and tackle sports.
