THE STEVENS AMERICA:A Guide to the U.S.

In one volume this is sort of an up-to-date Blue Book to American motoring, though cognizance is given to air routes, train routes, bus routes. The book is built around 28 trans-American tours, the fastest routes, the intermediate points, detours and alternates. Facts are succinctly presented about each state speed limits, liquor regulations, basic industries, etc. Under cities and towns, there is information on population, altitude, transportation facilities, main hotels (listed not necessarily recommended), tourist courts, radio station for best car reception (a new item), historical sites, events of interest with dates, etc. An index for locating specific city, state, park, etc., a route finder, and paper maps, tips on travel, on saving money, on driving in different kinds of terrain- all contribute to an excellent coverage.
