KIRKUS REVIEW

From the short story, The Gioconda Smile, this play with its Greek tragedy undertones, has been written. Whether or not intended for stage production, it will be interesting reading for those to whom the subtle implications of Hutton's relations to his invalid wife, to Janet, his contemporary, who is in love with him, to Doris, his youthful mistress, to Nurse Braddock, avenger, display the brilliance of their creator. From the dramatic angle, the play seems to offer little reward.
