PETER ALTENBERG'S EVOCATIONS OF LOVE by Alexander King presents

PETER ALTENBERG'S EVOCATIONS OF LOVE

By

Publisher: Simon & Schuster

Peter Altenberg died in 1919, but Alexander King has set out to prove that his stories will be joyously welcomed in America today. Altenberg has never been published here; it was left for his fellow Austrian, King, with great sensitivity and charm (more than he often shows in his own work), to translate the little wisps of stories and to comment upon them in his own inimitable style. The result is a coherent work of art that provokes a whole panorama of delightful tender emotions. King has also prepared four full-color paintings and some 100 line drawings which will no doubt enhance the volume still further. The publisher, wisely foreseeing a great gift attraction, will pack the book in a slip case, and the end result will be irresistible to King's retinue.
