THE YOUNG TRAVELER IN FRANCE

The rural part of this is somehow more alive than the urban-and yet to most travelers in France, Paris is France. Here our young travelers start with Paris- in the Etoile area, and their investigations highspot some of the things expected (and leave out much one would think they would see). One senses a few inaccuracies of locale- minor ones to be sure- and Paris itself doesn't come to life as Stockholm and Gothenburg do in the Proctor book. But the parts of rural France give a far-flung sense of the country, and adventuring in the Alps of the Chamonix area lends a note of real adventure.
