MRS. PEPPERPOT TO THE RESCUE

The heroine of these seven short stories is the now well-known and always enjoyable Mrs. Pepperpot. She is, by turns, spunky, meddlesome, and teasing, but always kind. She still, to the distress of her husband, shrinks without warning to the size of a pepperpot. This enables her to go to class with a little girl and slip her the answers to her school work. In the next story she decides it's the teacher who needs a lesson, but learns that she hasn't got a corner of kindness. Her methods of transportation, when suddenly shrunk, are always part of the fun -- sometimes she goes by cat-back and in others she whirls on the wind. In the last story she scares the wits out of a steer by hiding and chattering in his cap, but she steers him to victory. It's the best nonsense out of Scandinavia. Bjorn Berg's pen and ink illustrations exactly catch the spirit of the text.
