KIRKUS REVIEW

A good working biography of Julius Caesar efficiently follows the periods of his life, setting them first against the background of Roman and Greek history. Caesar's twisted road to power is examined in its many turns- from the principles of mass psychology that seemed natural to him down to his attributed sexual aberrations. Duggan's style, calm and analytical throughout, nevertheless has flashes of colorful prose that give a sense of the personal elements involved.
