Dr. Kaufman's book with almost as alluring a title as Dr. Robert Wilson's Feminine Forever (Evans) deals with the same subject while modulating the desirability of estrogen therapy. Not that he's against it, and he goes into it at some length, recommending it for special situations in this book which is also about the menopause. (He claims 50% have some discomforts as they age.) Dr. Kaufman is a gynecologist obstetrician (New York University Medical Centre) and he talks sensibly about hair, skin, weight, depression, insomnia, special sexual problems, surgical conditions which occur later on in life. On the whole, however, as still another book on the female menopause, there are no new wrinkles--familiar lines.
