KIRKUS REVIEW

A practical book for garden lovers and others, with good working information about raising certain kinds of flowers, making a compost heap, laying out a garden plan, and so on. All sorts of practical scientific facts are presented, -- how to test seeds by blotting paper or canton flannel method, how to induce speedier germination by filing off the ends. Useful, practical, but lacks the charm of the Louise Wilder book reported in the last issue (page 12). See records of author's previous Garden Notebook.
