From three craft teachers at senior citizen centers come these 26 projects designed with the elderly in mind. The straightforward instructions, printed in large type and accompanied by step-by-step illustrations, indicate compensatory techniques for the handicapped. The projects themselves, mostly for household items, often make use of recycled or inexpensive materials. There's a candlestick made from mosaic tiles affixed to an olive jar, a mirror plaque decorated with sea shells, and for the more ambitious (and dexterous) a woven throw pillow. None is unusually handsome and the authors include some very elementary information (an explanation of primary and complementary colors) but the finished works are presentable and could provide some creative activity for seniors.
