KIRKUS REVIEW

Pizarro's name has gone down in history, with none too savory a reputation. Little or nothing is known of his partner, Marshal de Almagro, who, according to Miss Desmond, tried to treat the Peruvians with more consideration, to spare the people the treachery of his partner. This is the story of de Almagro's son, Diego, of the vain attempt to right the wrong done by the Pizarros, of imprisonment and the death of his father, of his own brief term as governor of Peru. A colorful and dramatic story in which the emphasis on history sometimes confuses the pace of the tale.
