KIRKUS REVIEW

With the quiet dignity of her other stories from American history, Alice Dalgleish has chosen the events in Columbus' life most directly connected with his great adventure and narrates them simply and meaningfully. She telescopes the admiral's life, but her viewing glass renders a true image:- of the imagination-charged boyhood in Genoa, of early sea and map making work, of the long struggle to get Funds and permission for his bold undertaking, and of the satisfaction of finding what he was looking for. Accompanying pictures are by Leo Politi, rugged and colorful settings to a sturdy story.
