When Peter's father came home tired Peter tried to cheer him up. With Peter's words and endearing pictures this book prescribes his restorative methods. He put ""hats"" on;- first a doll's hat, then his own Davy Crockett hat, a beret, his father's hat, a newspaper tricorn, an Indian feather, a miner's cap, a lampshade, an egg basket, a waste- basket, an oversize galosh and a big paper bag. (P.S. It worked.) This different happy little story will entertain pre-schoolers who hear it read, amuse beginning readers who master it independently (nice large type and easy language) and will certainly cheer any tired parents who read it appropriately at bedtime.
