KIRKUS REVIEW

Of the three collections, this is designed for the age when tales of princesses hold special appeal; when people turned into animals, and animals turned into people have allure of a special kind, when the belief in magic is still -- albeit in secret- very important. There are old favorites here, and a few unfamiliar ones, but they all belong in the area of enchantment, and they come from varied sources,- French, Russian, Spanish, German, the Orient. For this addition to Scribner's Illustrated Classics a young artist, Concetta Cacciola, has contributed her own special kind of magic in enchanting full pages and double spreads in rich color, and in lovely decorative line drawings.
