MINGO OF THE MERRY- GO- ROUND

Mingo, Puerto Rican mountain lad, leaves his home and family to travel with his older brother in the employ of a carnival. Mingo takes fares and blacks boots and now and again gets into trouble because, like many Puerto Rican children, he has had no chance to learn to read. As they travel they see some of the things the Protestant missions have accomplished, and eventually, both Mingo's needs and those of his family are met when the mission helps them to self sufficiency with poultry- and to a new outlook on life.
