Good Rosman -- and that means wide circulation and healthy sales to a some-what conservative market looking for a well told story, not too probing the depths of human emotions, not a problem story in a disturbing sense, and dealing with pleasant people, enough of conflict, and a goodly share of romance. The setting is an English village, where a veneer of friendly humanity cloaks the inevitable love of gossip, and where a girl, on the verge of marrying the man she loves, almost slips into tragedy when a secret of her childhood comes to light. The type of book for the Boileau market, as well as the usual Rosman fans.
