KIRKUS REVIEW

A story that recalls Joan Webster's Daddy Long Legs with a bit of Peter Pan as a special blend. An unwanted child in an orphanage finds escape in her own inner life, with her ""shadow"" as guide and way of release. He gets her into some difficult situations, some amusing ones, some delightful ones and makes of a life a real adventure. Sentimental -- yes -- but that is the market for which a story of this sort is written, and they will like it. Plus sale for young people. The realism in the orphanage background, etc., is more convincing than the fantasy which doesn't quite come off.
