BIOGRAPHY OF AN ARMADILLO

Simple, near-sighted little Dillo fits comfortably if unremarkably into the animal biography format. His biggest scare comes when he surfaces right under the nose of a surprised gardener; the ever-present threat is traffic on the road that bisects his territory; and the high point of his life is mating with a docile female--whom he absent-mindedly wanders away from soon after. Only the controlled precision of Zallinger's drawings adds some sparkle to Dillo's slow, amiable progress.
