KIRKUS REVIEW

A very down-to-earth, capably, written book on the lore of the remarkable monarchs, and the satisfactions of raising them. The style is rather personal, based on the author's own extensive experience, with occasional brief anecdotes to emphasize important points. The body of the book is concerned with collecting, handling, and rearing the living specimens, their habits and their well-being. From the beginning, various and prominent research programs are discussed with directions for participating. ""Especially, commendable are the full instructions included for home made, equipment and pointers on photography techniques. The author's keen sense of responsibility to her subject and her audience make this an unusually fine book.
