KIRKUS REVIEW

**A delightful roundup by an author artist team whose work we hope to be seeing oftener. Fables, verse, riddles, ordinary nonsense of the sublimer sort, and a lusciously colorful patchwork of picture- like Weisgard's and Gustav Tenggren's yet with a sophistication and humorous distortion that sets them apart- all kinds of animals in all sorts of places. There are the gang in the forest who built a house for protection from a hunter who turned out to be a butterfly catcher. There's the little boy who pretends he is a different animal for each different occasion; the wart hog with the heart of gold; the bunch of birds who come to a parade-that-wasn't; a bear's advice for winter etc. With a wit that shifts and changes every page yet cleverly retains a directness that tells and teaches- here's a funny, fascinating compendium for young and old.
