This consolidation and abridgement of Home Life in Colonial Days and Child Life in Colonial Days is a better buy at $6.95 than either of the two was at $5.95 (the differing discount notwithstanding) and, for today's purposes, a much better book. The illustrations, almost entirely new, are superior in choice of subject and of course in quality; the layout is generous, the format inviting. Condensing the text has not harmed it except perhaps for connoisseurs of the quaint. As before, the index is extensive (though we regret the absence of ""Hell, familiarity with""). A long-standing bastion of information has been successfully stormed.
