THE LITTLE STORE ON THE CORNER

Many children know Mr. Tinklepaugh. He's the little man in the corner store who always has something special for boys and girls -- in this case, cones brimming over with ice cream and surprise goodies. But Oscar Tinklepaugh has different ideas about running a store and after sending Dad on vacation, he applies more efficient techniques much to the dissatisfaction of his young customers as well as to his own cash box. A ""Going Out of Business"" sign rallies the children around their one-time favorite haunt where they soon let young Oscar in on the secret of his father's success. Visually strident illustrations by John Lawrence minimize the effectiveness of a nice little story.
