THE AFRICA OF ALBERT SCHWEITZER

By

Publisher: Harper & Beacon Press

This is a most interesting and valuable addition to the rapidly growing body of literature dealing with the life and work and personality of Albert Schweitzer. The authors, one a relief administrator and the other a publisher, flew over to Africa and spent several weeks at Lambarene in the Belgian Congo, the scene of Dr. Schweitzer's labors. They were admitted as members of the hospital family and walked and talked, ate and worked with Schweitzer and studied at first hand the people to whom he ministers. They have produced a picture-and- text documentary which is a vivid and moving testimonial to the man and his work. The pictures are superb and the whole format of the book gives evidence that it is indeed a labor of love.
