This slim book manages to convey quite a lot of information about the land of the Boer and the African, as well as a sense of the extreme social imbalance now prevailing. Serious in tone, the text starts with a description of the land as to geography, economy and the parts of its population. Where the different peoples originated follows as a lead into history and the country's peculiar development that led it to its present state of suppression and intolerance. The writer might have included more about native life and perhaps famous people, but it is good introductory material as it stands.
