THE AUDACITY OF FAITH by Allan A. Hunter

THE AUDACITY OF FAITH

By

Publisher: Harper

In this volume are contained a number of devotional essays or sermons which should be of great help to those who find the ordinary conventional expressions of faith unsatisfying and long to bring their religious life up to a higher level. Most people, the author contends, live either on the level of the picnic ground where the search for pleasure is the dominating motive or on the level of the psychopathic ward where cynicism and disillusionment reign. The book is a plea for a third and higher level of life, and for an increasing number of people who will be willing to explore its possibilities. The lines along which such spiritual research should be conducted are indicated clearly in the several chapters of the book. This is not however, a book for the masses, but for the select few who are earnestly seeking a higher expression of their faith. The author is the pastor of the Mount Hollywood Congregational Church in Los Angeles and known as one of the most thoughtful and spiritually minded of the liberal ministers on the coast.
