A contemporary tale of a strange triangle which harks back to the period of crisis in Montreal and of World War II by the author of The Precipice and Each Man's Son. Three stories told successively, and brought up to the moment of eruption, with each character in turn learning to live with death. A substantial cut above average, at times too discursive, but always worth reading.
