BEST DETECTIVE STORIES OF THE YEAR: 27th Annual Collection

The best of Mr. Hubin's best include David Ely's ""Gourmet Hunt"" for an Italian Duke with an impossible-to-please palate, Barry Malzberg's expectedly fanciful ""The Interceptor,"" James McKimmey's pleasantly sentimental ""Keep Us Safe"" where even a rural campsite is not out of touch or out of reach of the gratuitous violence which is everywhere, and newcomer (?) George Chesbro's ""Broken Pattern"" about a pair of sociopathic victimizing, terrorizing twins. The names you'll know will be those of Joe Gores, Robert Fish, Isaac Asimov, Edward Hoch, and Michael Gilbert and there are seventeen stories in all -- shorter term pleasures for you might say a case-hardened readership.
