More Long Island Iore, this time in a modern setting with an old timer's tales. Ben and Birdie Harcutt often visit old Orrie Shadbolt and listen to his tales, a shade suspect but always informative. He admits ""bay folks have words of their own"" and the two kids get vocabulary lessons in addition to cel-catching instructions and local legends. In between fireside chats they follow the progress of Pete and Moose Verity, getting their Miami Moon ready to sail south via the Intercoastal (another explanation), and it is this relationship that leads to a rescue at the end. It doesn't save the story.
