A painstaking, scholarly job, which might possibly have a sale among Scandinavian-Americans, but assuredly will not be read to any extent by the general populace, nor in demand at public libraries. It is an exhaustive (and exhausting) study of the author of Giants in the Earth, the man and his work. It is a cold portrait, with but few glimpses of his personal life. The analysis of his writings might be of value to students of Scandinavian literature. Very limited.
