BRET HARTE OF THE OLD WEST

Born to a poor school teacher who never seemed to be able to find his niche, young Bret spent part of his youth in New York City where he learned that he was partly Jewish. He devoured every book that came his way and became obsessed with a desire to see California. As we all know he went out and there wrote the stories which have been so loved ranging from take-offs on French authors to his short stories about miners. Good true Western material.
