A CITY AT SEA

A brief survey of the S.S. Independence surveys her from porthole to state-room with emphasis on the physical features of the ship, and the few top men who run it. The formalities of leaving the harbor and observing rules of safety aboard are observed before an examination of operational principles commences. How the ship is steered, its source of power, the comforts and services it offers passengers are also discussed. Unfortunately, the contagion of excitement on a great ocean liner is never captured in this account.
