KIRKUS REVIEW

The enchanting pictures by Leonard Weisgard, in which each animal has a mysterious, reflective personality of its own, make this an exciting picture book. In muted greens, blues and browns the artist creates a squirrel's-eye view of the animals and ferns of the woods -- pin-eyed possums, sleepy owl, frightened fox, sharp leaves and bright sky. Through this glimmering world, mother squirrel scampers to find her baby, who finally appears in a nest of golden ducklings. A sunny, friendly story.
