The ""poor wayfaring spacers"" three, Hal, Nick and Wren, set out on a space junket that is a veritable sympathy of the absurd. Having revived the lost art of folk singing on their own planet, they serenade and trade with other cultures and like all good little folk singers, they entertain. Ibid: ""Space town race track light years long/ Doo-dah, doo-dah/ I bet my money on the neutron beam/ Who gonna bet on the ray. ""They also romance and by the end of the trip the trio becomes a sextet. And they manage to disrupt each planet by blithely tra-la-ing each society's weakness. Take the parkers,-- victims of a slavery society, and ""Go down, Sylvor (head parker)/ way down Invictus (planet) land/ Tell the Manee (man)/ to set my parkers free!"" ...It's enough to make Bob Dylan turn in his guitar.
