THE BIG FIRM

The big firm in the central character, while the minor characters are the members of the family and a few of the employees in rebellion -- or concurrence -- with the demands of big business, as necessitated by a manufacturing concern which has many ramifications. This is the story of these revolts -- and in the process one gets interesting sidelights on a good many facets of the thing undercurrents of labor problems and activities in England today, and a sense of frustration and unreality throughout. Interwoven love stories, but they are secondary to the main theme. A better story in the reading than in the afterthought, when it seems diffuse and unresolved.
