ESCAPE ON SKIS

After working out on the carefully groomed slopes of the New England mountain owned by her father (who else?), Olympic hopeful Kim Merrill learns that her fiance, international ski champion Clint Harvey, has disappeared while training near Zermatt. What choice has she but to jump the next jet for Switzerland? Despite Harvey's rather far-fetched history--a spectacular rise from ghetto to jetset and three or four broken engagements to international celebrities--Kim is certain that Clint has run out neither on her nor the Olympics. With surprising ease, she talks her coach (not the last man in this story to declare his love for her), into continuing her training at Zermatt and, incidentally, doing some sleuthing on the side. In between spectacular slalom runs at Zermatt and breathtaking cross-country treks to Alto and Cervinia, Kim finds time to sample the ambience of elegant nightspots and, of course, finds herself in the midst of international political espionage. Credibility often wears thin, but in the excitement of the race you might find yourself mentally casting the movie version.
