In a letter to a cousin, Harry reports the highlights of his week's visit to their mutual grandparents' Florida condo: swimming in the pool, riding a bike, breaking into the adults-only clubhouse. Read as fiction, this makes rather a slight tale. But read as advice from one boy to another, the satire is telling and often pretty funny--especially when amplified by Truesdell's humorous drawings with their wide-eyed, beak-nosed characters. Urban children who visit relatives in the Sunbelt will enjoy a sense of recognition here and may even garner some useful pointers, but the book probably lacks broader appeal.
