KIRKUS REVIEW

Remember Treasure of Gaspesv, one of the loveliest looking books of its season? Here the author-artist who created that book has done a book for somewhat older children, a story of some children of Cape Breton (Canada's Maritime Provinces and not far from the Gaspe). Through the backgrounds of the children one learns of the survival of old ways among the descendants today of Scottish and French settlers. Plenty of incident, good background, but lacks the build-up to a focus which most youngsters need in fiction. Through the chapters she has managed to include a good deal of legend and history.
