A TIME FOR SILENCE by Andre Masrols

A TIME FOR SILENCE

By

Publisher: Appleton-Century

A French novel in the tradition of the early Maurols, a problem story, human ethics versus social, pleasantly set in the home of a semi-aristocratic, landowning family in the Perigerd. The home is that of the Romilly's and their daughter, Colebte, is in love with the son of an influential family. The true story of her ""parents"", of her own illegitimacy, comes out as told to a third person, dowager queen of the community. A woman of the world, in the vital sense, Mme. de la Gulchardie persuades Gaston that there is a time for silence, and the matter is dropped. Slight, but suavely handled. Very French and somewhat dated.
