NINE MONTHS TO GO

A doctor's rounds of the 280 day cycle keeps a nice balance of information and reassurance on what the mother-to-be can expect- physiologically, emotionally, and financially. From determining the pregnancy to choosing a doctor; the normal changes in the mother and development of the embryo; symptoms and danger signals; diet and exercise (in some detail for those that need it); maternity clothes; the layette; the hospital; and the experience of childbirth (natural, educated or anesthetized), and after, all are covered and provide the right preparation. First mothers first and foremost-- and since there have been a number of books providing similar guidance, there may be a certain sibling rivalry to contend with.
