A family of guinea pigs strays from home, in a mild little animal adventure that hasn't much going for or against it. The irritable and hungry guinea pigs tip over their box one day when their daily lettuce has not appeared. (The picture shows their owner, a little boy, going off in a car with his family.) They bumble into a field mouse family's hollow log, are chased out by a cat, climb on a rock which turns out to be a turtle, stuff themselves with lettuce in the garden, and are found asleep by the boy who returns them to their box. The animals are frequently referred to as simply ""pigs,"" to possible confusion. As the car episode illustrates, Brooks integrates the words and pictures well so that neither are redundant. However, the whole familiar sequence might be.
